THIS WEEK

We’re still in SSPA 1100!  Jason Ashimoto’s coming to help lead us in a PRAYsing Night!  Come out… it’ll be pretty different and fun.  Also I’ll be sharing my testimony!  Aah!

Oh man… it’s the last week of Winter Quarter!  And it surely doesn’t feel like winter quarter… it’s nice and sunny these days =D  so nice

anywhoo… here’s what’s going down THIS WEEK:
We’re having a BONFIRE!!!!!!!!!  meet at 7:00pm @ the Flagpoles (by Aldrich Hall/Administration Building)!!  Rides will be provided… if you’d like to drive please e-mail Manny (emohareb@uci.edu) ASAP and let him know, so we can plan accordingly.  =)  Manny will send out an e-mail to drivers :)

Dear friends of Asian American Christian Fellowship,

I hope you are all doing well.

As you all know I’m a freshman at University of California Irvine, and so far I’m enjoying my first year. I must admit it has been very hard being away from family and friends at home, but I look to find new people that I know will love and care for me, and that is exactly why I write to you. Ever since I first came to AACF I have never felt unwelcomed. So before I begin, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, because you have once again given me that sense of home.

I have been presented with an amazing opportunity to serve and I just wanted to take time out to share all the details with you. I have been given the chance to go on a mission trip to Fresno, California this upcoming spring break, March 23rd - March 28th, and the reason why I am going to Fresno is because Fresno County ranks 4th of 58 countries for poverty and 3rd for child poverty. So you could imagine that I will be serving the homeless. Next it is statistically proven that mentored youth are 70% less likely to begin using drugs, therefore we will also be working with young people.

In order for this trip to be possible, I am responsible to raise $250, and please remember that these funds are not being used for my own good, but for the benefit of the entire body of Christ. This expense includes transportation, housing, food, insurances, and other project materials, but of course any amount will be greatly appreciated.

If you are however willing to help sponsor me financially, please send a check payable to Newsong Church and mailed to the following address: 18842 Teller Ave. Irvine, CA 92612. Also, very importantly include my name in the memo. If you are able to support me on this trip, please also include a brief note indicating my name as well as your name and address for tax deduction purposes, by March 16.

However, the main purpose of the letter is actually not meant to specifically ask for money. Although it is very important, I value your prayers even more. So, please pray for this overall trip but for me especially, because truthfully I am anxiously awaiting God to show me a miracle, a miracle that will transform me to become a better disciple.

God has blessed me with an enormous opportunity, and I am most definitely blessed to have people I can ask support from. Again, thank you for giving me that feeling of home, now it’s my turn to do the same for others.
